Description
This document shows a summary of the latest statistics on the world epidemic of AIDS & HIV (data from UNAIDS/WHO - November 2007). During 2007 around two and a half million adults and children became infected with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), the virus that causes AIDS. By the end of the year, an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide were living with HIV/AIDS. The year also saw more than two million deaths from AIDS, despite recent improvements in access to antiretroviral treatment. The overwhelming majority of people with HIV, some 95% of the global total, live in the developing world. What are needed to turn the tide are massive responses at the national and international level. Only through education and cooperation we can prevent AIDS' devastating impact on our societes, our economies and our lives...
