Description
Dr. Maida Chen discusses when to consider checking for sleep apnea. Symptoms include snoring, loud breathing through the mouth, sweating, color changes while sleeping, daytime sleepiness or poor performance at school. Its difficult for parents to determine if there is a problem, that is why it is important to get the child tested. There are 3 types of sleep apnea, mixed, obstructive and central sleep apnea. Obesity may play a role in exasperating sleep apnea, but is not a necessary variable.
